I've not signed any yet (aside from a copy I gave to the staff at my little boy's nursery 'cos they asked) so there's not many around. Doubly so since Amazon are the only place I know of to have broken the release date and already have it for sale; everyone else should be following suit next week. After that, I don't know tbh. Harrogate this year, certainly, but I don't have the foggiest what else might be on the calendar that I'd be out and about at...

Sean, why don't you set up an agreement with a local book shop, so they keep a small stock of signed copies on hand and can do mail order to anyone who wants one?

The local book shop (there are two more, also chains, but limited fiction and zero stock space, not to mention no mailing) is Waterstones, who do (or always did) signed stuff centrally and certainly don't mail out. Our only indie bookstore - which did non-fic and textbooks only - went tits up a couple of years ago. I'm not sure there are any with the capacity to do it even in Brighton.

Not that there's anything that'd stop a store elsewhere in the country doing it if they ordered a load from Gardners and had the delivery shipped here first (easy, since Gardners are local). I've done that in the past with a batch of copies for Poisoned Pen in the US. I just don't know any stores elsewhere with the exception of Goldsboro and I don't know if they do mail either.

Something to look into once my edits are done, I reckon.

Alan White Fine Books is an independent bookseller based in Brighton. He would like to stock signed first editions of The Levels but got nowhere with the publisher. He does mail order too. It would be great if you could use Alan to flog some signed copies. http://www.alanwhitefinebooks.com info@alanwhitefinebooks.com

There I was hoping it was Newport, South Wales.
    Now that would be horrifying.

Which of course is monstrously slow, but the past week has been mental. All for good reasons, but mental nonetheless.

Got the book. Excellent. Thanks for not getting a beer glass ring on the cover of this rare first edition in the pub! Will try to get The Argus to review or to print my review once I've read it.

If I'd thought about it, I could've incorporated a glass ring into the signature... :D

Off topic I know but here goes. My best mate's just finished writing a big stonking 211,000 word thriller. I've read it and helped him edit it. It's time to look for an agent. Luigi Bonomi and Darley Anderson seem to be the agents for crime/thrillers. Do you mind if we're cheeky and mention your name when sending a synopsis and sample chapters to Luigi? Trying to avoid the bottom of the slush pile. Title is Perfect Sin by Harn Core.

If I'd read it and recommended it to him myself, it might make a difference to Luigi, but I doubt it - he's pretty shrewd. But since that's not the case it wouldn't, so I can't see how you could mention my name/I'd be happy with it to him in a way that'd mean anything to him either way. If you see what I mean. Unless I'm missing something somewhere, which is possible at this time of night - how?

Luigi and his people at LBA are good sorts, and have a good record for giving new stuff a fair crack of the whip if it's the sort of thing that interests them or that they reckon they can sell.

Loved it from start to finish, Sean! I'm seconding Bejamin8 here, where's the next one ?!? Seriously though, it was a bloody good read, although I did have to reintroduce myself to my wife when I'd finished, as she never heard a peep out of me for the 4 nights of constant reading!!!

Ha! I've been there myself. Not having to reintroduce myself to your wife, obviously. :-D
